Tasty teaser: Load up on Trojans for the weekend

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Week 4 of the college football season featured three games on Thursday, but luckily for you, our go-to teaser focuses on a pair of Saturday games. USC and Michigan might be playing 3-0 teams, but that doesn't concern us enough to not include both in this week's best college football teaser.

Michigan plays host to the 3-0 Maryland Terrapins, and there's a pretty good chance the Wolverines lead by 11 at the half and never look back. The original spread is set at -17, but with the teaser, the spread drops to -11. Expect a fired-up Maryland squad at "The Big House" after pulling out a 34-27 comeback win last week against SMU. No knock on SMU, but the Wolverines are on a completely different level.

Michigan has scored 50+ points in each of its first three games and haven't allowed more than 10 points in any game. Even against a Terrapins squad that has scored 30+ points in all its games, don't expect that to change on Saturday. J.J. McCarthy hasn't disappointed since being named the team's starting quarterback, and believe it or not, the Michigan defense might be better than they were a year ago.

As for the second leg, we're taking USC +0.5 on the teaser. The spread is set at -5.5, but with the teaser, all you need is a USC win. Oregon State will be the Trojans' toughest test so far this season, but Lincoln Riley's high-powered offense has USC buzzing for the first time since Pete Carroll was coaching the Trojans.

Caleb Williams and Jordan Addison are arguably the best QB-WR combination in the nation, and while the Trojans' defense may give up some points, they've forced 10 turnovers in just three games. USC is averaging over 50 points a game, and they should have little trouble getting to 40 in this one. This game might be close for a while, but expect USC to pull away in the fourth quarter.

The Bet: Michigan (-17) to (-11) and USC (-5.5) to (+0.5) (+116 odds via Barstool)

In the news ...

Celtics suspend Udoka for all of next seasonThe Boston Celtics suspended head coach Ime Udoka for all of next season due to a violation of team rules. Sources say Udoka had an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise's staff. Udoka led the Celtics to the NBA Finals in his first season as the team's head coach and is expected to be replaced by Joe Mazzulla for this upcoming season. Despite the coaching change, Boston still remains the favorite to win the NBA Championship (+550).

Payton open to coaching again — Fox Sports analyst and former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said on the "NewOrleans.Football Podcast" that he'd be open to returning to the NFL as a head coach in 2023 for the "right situation." Payton resigned as the Saints head coach in January after a 152-89 record over 16 seasons and guided the franchise to its only Super Bowl back in 2009.

U.S. takes 4-1 lead over Internationals at Presidents Cup — The United States Golf team jumped out to a 4-1 lead over the International Team on the first day of the Presidents Cup on Thursday. The Presidents Cup continues on Friday with five four-ball matches, where the U.S. is (-250) is favored to win the day with ease. The U.S. (-2500) is currently favored to win the Presidents Cup following a strong Thursday performance.

Quick Picks

1 Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees

The final score in each of the Yankees' last four games has been nine or higher, which is why we're taking the over of eight (-109) here. The Yankees might be a little sluggish on Friday after clinching a playoff berth on Thursday, but either way, one of these two teams should score some runs. Red Sox starter Rich Hill has an ERA over five in his last seven starts, and Gerrit Cole allowed four runs earlier this month in his previous start against the Red Sox. This might be a close cover, but the over of 7.5 runs is the way to go here.
Red Sox
+1.5 (-105) +200 > 7.5 (-109)
-1.5 (-103) -222 < 7.5 (-108)
2 New York Mets @ Oakland Athletics

Oakland may have the second-fewest runs in baseball, but the Mets are baseball's best team against the over this season, which is why we're taking the over of seven runs (-115) in this one. Chris Bassitt and Cole Irvin have been solid this season, but despite getting shutout on Tuesday, the Mets have scored the fifth most runs in September. And unlike the A's, New York has something to play for. The Mets are only 1.5 games ahead of Atlanta in the NL East, and the outcome of this week's series could be the difference in either winning or losing the division. Expect both teams to score at least three runs and New York to come out on top in this one.
-1.5 (-115) -213 > 7 (-110)
+1.5 (+106) +195 < 7 (-135)
3 Maryland Terrapins @ Michigan Wolverines

Both teams may be 3-0, but make no mistake about it, Michigan is the much better team in this one. That's why we're taking the Wolverines -17 (-110). Michigan has scored 50+ points in each of its three games, and have allowed just 17 points on the season. Don't be surprised if Michigan is up 17 at the half and never looks back.
Saturday, 12:00 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
+17 (-107) +580 > 64 (-110)
-16.5 (-110) -714 < 64 (-107)
4 USC Trojans @ Oregon State Beavers

Another matchup between a pair of 3-0 teams, but the Trojans offense has simply been unstoppable so far, and that's why we're taking USC -6 (-110) on Saturday night. Oregon State might be able to keep this close for a while, but not enough to stay within a touchdown. Expect another big night from Caleb Williams and Jordan Addison and the Trojans to pull away from OSU in the second half.
Saturday, 9:30 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
-5.5 (-107) -222 > 70.5 (-107)
Oregon State
+6 (-110) +190 < 70.5 (-107)
5 Houston Texans @ Chicago Bears

The under has hit an astonishing 64% (21/33) of the time this season, and with two below-average offenses in the Texans and the Bears, we love the under of 40 (-110) in this one. Neither team has scored more than 20 points in a game, and don't expect that to change again on Sunday.
+3 (-115) +130 > 39 (-109)
-2.5 (-110) -144 < 39 (-107)
6 Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Green Bay might be a road underdog on Sunday against Tom Brady and Tampa Bay, but with Mike Evans suspended, and Julio Jones and Chris Godwin likely out, expect the Buccaneers to struggle offensively. Tom Brady may be the GOAT, but without his three top receivers, even Brady can't guide the Bucs to victory. That's why we're taking the Packers (+100) on the moneyline. After a disappointing Week 1 loss, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense looked good on Sunday against the Bears, and expect the same again this week against Tampa Bay.
+1.5 (-105) +105 > 41.5 (-110)
-1 (-110) -115 < 41.5 (-110)
