The New York Mets are headed back to the postseason, and Max Scherzer is a big reason why. In his first year in Flushing, the three-time Cy Young Award winner has been his normally stellar self despite missing time with an injury. On Monday, Scherzer was perfect through six innings and got some help from the bullpen, which was good enough for career win No. 200. For the Mets, with a playoff berth clinched, they will now try to hold off the reigning World Series champion Atlanta Braves and win the NL East while also trying to win 100 games for the first time since the 1988 season. With a playoff rotation headed by Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, the Amazins are going to be a force to be reckoned with come October.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. Scherzer's 200th career victory gives him membership to a highly exclusive MLB fraternity. In MLB history, 19 pitchers have reached 200 wins and 3,000 strikeouts over the course of their careers, a list that now includes Scherzer. So with that in mind, how many of the 19 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
